About Samer Tarazi
For more than two decades, Samer Tarazi has stood where few dare to stand — on the frontlines of the Palestinian–Israeli conflict, camera in hand, driven by truth, faith, and an unbreakable commitment to justice. As a dedicated Palestinian Christian journalist and media professional, Samer has dedicated his life to telling the stories the world needed to hear — the narratives of courage, loss, and humanity that define Palestine.
Born and raised in Palestine, Samer grew up surrounded by resilience, faith, and the enduring hope of his people. From a young age, he understood that journalism was not just about headlines — it was about bearing witness to truth, preserving memory, and giving a voice to those silenced by war.
Samer began his journey with Palestine TV, where his determination and bravery quickly set him apart as a figure of journalistic courage. Over the years, he worked with global outlets such as CNN, Al Jazeera, and numerous international networks, becoming one of the most trusted and respected journalists to emerge from Gaza.
He has covered every major war and conflict in Gaza since 2005, including the devastating 2023–2025 war, remaining on the ground from the first airstrike to the final ceasefire. While others sought shelter, Samer stood amid the smoke and rubble, camera steady, voice unwavering — determined that the world would see what was happening.
Through countless nights of bombardment, he filmed under fire, comforted survivors, and narrated stories that might otherwise have been lost forever. His calm under pressure and relentless pursuit of truth made him a symbol of journalistic courage in one of the world’s most dangerous places to report.
Samer not only captured images — he captured the soul of a people. His footage and reports have reached millions worldwide, revealing both the suffering and the strength of Gaza’s civilians. To many, his name became synonymous with integrity, resilience, and devotion to truth.
As a Board Member of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate, Samer worked tirelessly to defend the rights and safety of his fellow reporters — many of whom paid the ultimate price for telling the truth. His leadership and advocacy helped spotlight the sacrifices and bravery of Palestinian journalists who risk everything so the world can know their people’s reality.
But Samer’s story is not only one of war — it is one of faith, compassion, and purpose. As a Palestinian Christian, he has been a bridge between communities, speaking of peace, coexistence, and the shared humanity that binds all people. His insights and reflections have appeared in The Financial Times, Middle East Monitor, and across Arab and Palestinian media, reminding the world that beyond politics and pain, there are stories of hope that deserve to be told.
Now beginning a new chapter in Australia, Samer continues his lifelong mission: to share the truth of the oppressed, to amplify the voices of the forgotten, and to build bridges through storytelling. His journey — from the ruins of Gaza to new beginnings abroad — stands as a testament to the power of resilience, faith, and the enduring spirit of journalism.
For Samer Tarazi, journalism has never been a job. It has been a calling — a sacred duty to stand where truth is threatened, to speak when silence is safer, and to remind the world that even in the darkest times, light still exists.
